Capital Access Program
Mission: To develop, promote, and implement sound economic
strategies to improve the quality of life of rural North Carolinians.
Qualification to use: Any legal business entity incorporated in
the state North Carolina is eligible to apply.
Organization: NC Rural Economic Development Center, Inc.
Funded by: N.C. General Assembly and U.S. Congress
through the Small Business Administration
Contact: Businesses should contact a commercial loan officer of
a participating bank.

Community Development Corporation Grants
Mission: To develop, promote, and implement sound economic
strategies to improve the quality of life of rural North Carolinians.
Qualification to use: To be eligible under this program, an
organization must be incorporated under N.C. General Statute 55A and must
have received its federal 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. It also must be
able to provide evidence of organizational activity.

N.C. Microenterprise Loan Program
Mission: In operation since 1989, the Rural Center's
nationally award-winning Microenterprise Loan Program provides rural
people with small business loans to help them become self-sufficient
through business ownership.
Qualification to use: Anyone who wishes to start or expand a
small business in one of the 85 rural counties of North Carolina and meets
the following minimum criteria may apply: is at least 18 years old; has a
business with fewer than 10 full-time employees; is a U.S.
citizen/permanent resident and resident of North Carolina. Special
emphasis is placed on serving rural, low-income, female and minority
borrowers.
